INDIA. 1854 wrapper bearing 1854 Die 2, 1a dull red x2 + 8a carmine-bluish paper pair + 8a carmine from Bombay, tied by "1" diamond on bars (JC type B4) to London with m/s "Stamped" across the adhesives with m/s "Via-Marseilles/ Special" boxed "INDIA-PAID" in red. "BOMBAY" indistinct in red on reverse and London PAID arrival c.d.s. An interesting wrapper with very high mixed franking of 1854 and East India issues making special express rate of 26 annas. INDIA - Burdwan Dutch Connection. 1855 entire sent from Burdwan to Calcutta, franked with 1/2a lithograph stamp, Die I, pale blue with wide margins all around, cancelled with diamonds of dots (JC type 1), at reverse the marking show "GPO/1855/APR 7/1st DY" double circle delivery postmark in red. Minor tear in cover at the base. Covers from this Dutch town are very rare, especially with lithographed stamps. SG 3. (Photo). Est. 300 - 400 CHF.

INDIA. 1855 cover, bearing 4a deep blue and red 3rd printing, Head Die III, Frame Die II with margin touched at the top, tied by barred handstamp of Calcutta. Arrival and dispatch date stamps on reverse. Despite some filing folds not affecting adhesive very early usage of this printing made between 10 of march and 2nd April 1855. SG 21. (Photo). INDIA. 1855, Queen Victoria Lithographed, 4a pale blue & pale red, 4th Printing, Head Die III, Frame Die II, pair with guide line cut to shape, tied by JC type 1 dotted diamond handstamp on a cover sent from Calcutta to Bordeaux paying correct 8a rate for 1/2oz letter posted via Marseilles. INDIA - Great Britain. 1855, small roughly opened mourning cover sent from Calcutta to Barnstaple, franked with mixed issues 4a blue and pale red (First printing: Head Die I - Frame Die I) + 4a blue and red (Second printing: Head Die II - Frame Die I) in combination with 2a green 1854 issue all tied by JC type 1 diamond dotted handstamp. INDIA. 1855 mixed franking, of 2x1a red, Die I and 2 x 4a blue and red cut to shape (3rd Printing Head Die II, Frame Die I) on a climate affected cover (back flap missing) sent from Nyagong (Bangladesh) to Kent, stamp tied by JC Type 1 diamond dotted handstamp. INDIA. 1856 Indian Mutiny War period cover from Meean Meer to Calcutta, franked with 1/2a pale blue cut to margin, Lithographed stamp, Die I cancelled with numeral "164" diamonds with horizontal bars. On reverse "G.P.O/1856/AUG.31/1ST DY" delivery postmark. Alongside boxed "TOO LATE" (For dispatch the same day) and dated 20th August/Received 1st 1SEP" Very fine cover. SG 3. (Photo). INDIA. 1856 entire from Calcutta to Meean Meer, franked with 1a red, Die III, endorsed "Not at Meean Meer" and returned to Lahore Head Office. INDIA - France. 1856, very clean entire sent from Calcutta to Bordeaux, franked with 1a red (Die I) in combination with 1854 issue 2a green two horizontal pairs, good margin all around, to pay correct postage for mail abroad (1a domestic + 8a overseas) all tied by JC Type 1 dotted diamond handstamp. Front shows manuscript endorsement "P. St. Oriental / via Marseilles" alongside boxed INDIA PAID and red French entry mark. Reverse shows Calcutta dispatch and arrival Bordeaux c.d.s. INDIA. 1857 entire sent from Seronjee, a small town during the Indian Mutiny Period, to Nuseerabad, franked with 1/2a blue tied by barred numeral "99" handstamp. INDIA - Great Britain. 1857, a rare mixed usage, of 1854 2a green Litho (cut close to the margin) and 1855 De La Rue 4a black on bluish paper (two side perfs trimmed by postal clerk) on a cover to London, showing red boxed INDIA PAID handstamp on the front. INDIA. 1858 native cover from Delhi, franked with 1/2a pale blue (Die III) good to large margins, tied by very fine strike of JC type 8 '64' numeral of Sholapore, which leaves profile clear. INCOMING cover, franked by India 1865 1a. brown and 2a. orange tied to cover to Shanghai, China by distinctive diamond barred obliterators, with fine strike of ‘PORT BLAIR’ despatch c.d.s. INDIA (Sikkim State). 1927 (July 27), INCOMING cover from France, to Col. F. M. Bailey in Gangtok, Sikkim at 1fr. 50c. rate, reverse with rare TISTA BRIDGE c.d.s. INDIA: Used in Burma - Ireland. 1855 letter posted from Moulmein to Enniscorthy, franked with 1/2a deep blue, die III (SG#10) margin all around (top one tied close not touching frame line) cancelled by dotted handstamp, alongside red boxed INDIA transit and manuscript endorsement "Per Steamer via Calcatta". INDIA (Sikkim State). 1928, self addressed cover, to Lt. Col. F. M. Bailey, c/o Postmaster at Pakyong and sent on to Gangtok, franked by SIKKIM 1920 1a. yellow Revenue, tied by MAGAN / SIKKIM c.d.s. in black. Reverse with GANGTOK arrival (Oct 9). Lt. Col. Bailey was the Political Officer for Sikkim and Tibet, stationed in Gangtok (Sikkim) from June 1921 - 16 October 1928, during which time he made annual visits to Tibet. A very rare cover. (Photo). INDIAN STATES. 1888-1930, very attractive accumulation of over 160 postal stationery cards and envelopes, newspaper wrappers, all used from: Bamra, Chamba, Cochin, Farkiot, Gwalior, Holkar, Hyderbad (overprinted reply), Indore, Jaipur, Jhind, Kashmir, Patila, Travancore (nice uprated stationery envelope-registered). INDIA - Mount Everest Expedition. 1924-37, very attractive group of 6 items (cards signed by Captain Noel) from Mount Everest expeditions, on six exhibition pages showing variety of camp cancellations (Yatung noted), "The Flying Carpet" cover, 1933 air mail cover(87 covers were carried) from Purnea, 1937 cover with Post Office label from Gangtok about (Postmaster's failure to affix postage stamps and his imprisonment for this offence).
